Acting Director: Mohammed Alfa
A. Duties of Automated Mapping and GIS Division
- Final authentication and systematic organization of digitally captured data from the state offices.
- Use of digitally captured data design and develop several national data base like Topological, EA, Geographic features, Locality,Toponymy data bases. The management and maintenance of these databases.
- For the production of maps and solution to location-allocation optimization problems, demographic analysis, etc. several data modeling and simulation are often required. The division will be using population figures, geographic attributes and cartological relations stored in digital form to run all modeling and simulations required for computing geographic indices and parameters for demographic analysis and for outside agencies.
- The production of diagrams for publications, Atlas maps and all population maps require a lot of design test before arriving at an effective useful map. One section of the division will be saddled with all such design visualization and presentation before reproduction.
- In-house training on the soft and hardware.
B. Duties of Map Research and Archives Division

- Effective Communication of spatial features and phenomena. Map dissemination of demographic changes and development trends require research into perception of symbols and graphic marks for different audience and purposes. This division will undertake such responsibilities as demanded.
